IT is the art gallery of choice for A-listers, with Ed Sheeran, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans and Gemma Arterton among its clientele.

Now West Contemporary is doing its bit to help the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic by donating 20% of its profits to buy vital protective equipment for frontline staff.

Ten of the gallery’s highly collectable artworks will be released today, with five more made available every subsequent Thursday at 12pm over the next 12 weeks.

Rare pieces from the likes of street art favourite Banksy (above), Iconic music photographer Mick Rock, urban artist Fin DAC and The Connor Brothers (below) - who painted a composition for Meghan Markle to give to Idris Elba as a wedding present – will be among those being sold.

A social media campaign, #masksforNHS, has also been launched to encourage people to share their stories of NHS heroics.

The money raised will be used to buy FFP3 masks.

All of the major record labels host tables and after-parties, but this year the hottest ticket of the night was to Warner Music's party at The Chiltern Firehouse attended by their artists like Lizzo and Stormzy. 

We were treated to a gorgeous dinner at the Warner Music table at the O2 before the awards kicked off, where we were lucky enough to chat to some of the biggest names at the star-studded event, including rocker Courtney Love.

Hole singer Courtney revealed she will be launching her own perfume line - although hopefully, it won’t be an autobiographical scent that replicates the smell of her school days, when the other children nicknamed her ‘pee-girl’ due to her pungent odor.

Far from making a glamorous entrance to the Brits, Maya Jama, ex-girlfriend of this year’s British Male Solo Artist winner Stormzy, failed to get past security as she ‘forgot’ her ticket. Undeterred, the radio star was spotted scooping up her gown and hopping on the back of a golf buggy in order to crash the event. If only the buggy was there to aid her reportedly swift getaway from the Warner Music party after Stormzy’s victorious arrival...awkward! However, if there is ever a good time to bump into your ex it's when you're looking your best and just check out how fabulously sparkly and svelte Maya looked in her embellished white mini dress.

And Judge Robert Rinder was another famous face we caught up with, who told us he was devastated that his favorite singer Lizzo missed out on Best International Female Solo Artist at the ceremony. Hopefully the TV personality had a chance to party the night away with the US singer at the Chiltern.

‘She’s my favorite singer, I think she’s amazing. I wrote an essay last week about how much I adore her,’ he told me. 
And he says even his best pal Benedict Cumberbatch isn’t immune to Lizzo’s charms. ‘He’s a fan - she’s definitely the type of person Benedict likes!'

The kindest star was definitely Lizzo. She had a huge entourage, so it was difficult to chat to her, but we noticed she gave her full attention to anyone that approached her AND she made time to sign fans' pictures before she went into The Chiltern Firehouse. What a Queen!

Brits night is one of the few nights of the year where everyone truly lets their hair down and we think it was about 3am before the party ended.  Well done to Warner and Ciroc for organising one of the most fun and fabulous parties we've attended all year.

Thanks to American Airlines, one of the key partners of BAFTA, we had an exclusive insight into the parts that you don’t see on television. You may see fake clapping and forced smiles by some disappointed stars who’ve lost out and gushing acceptance speeches from those who do win, but we were able to get details about what the atmosphere at the after-party was like to see if the stars remained the same when the cameras were switched off. We also had details about how the stars prep for and recover from their big night, which American Airlines play a key part in because of the utter luxury laid on for the international stars like Renee Zellweger, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie.

The first cabin on the Boeing 777-300 from LA to London has just eight seats for a truly premium experience. Many stars have swapped their private jets for this service as it feels private but it's better for the environment to share their plane with those in economy and business than to take a tiny plane.

The experience doesn’t stop once the plane is on the tarmac. On arrival, they’re met at the gate, escorted to baggage claim so they don’t need to lift their own bags and escorted through customs and immigration. While a car is sorted for them, they can use the arrivals lounge to fully ensure they look fabulous once they step outside. The arrivals lounge has spa-like showers, hairdryers, clothes pressing service and serving healthy à la carte food items such as protein pancakes.

In London, most stars stay at The Savoy, which is the hotel partner of The BAFTAs.  It’s five-star luxury in a central location and home to one of the best afternoon teas in London should the nominees allow themselves some carbs.

On the day of the awards, a floor of the hotel turns into a pampering suite with hair appointments provided by Paul Edmonds and grooming courtesy of Lancome.

It was served with accompanying drinks by official BAFTA partners Champagne Taittinger, Villa Maria and S. Pellegrino. And yes, the stars did eat it! It was refreshing to see stars like Saorise Ronan and Rebel Wilson enjoy their meals. 

All of the stars sat with crews they worked on movies with so it wasn’t easy to reach them. However, the ladies' loos were a hotbed of gossip. Lancome set up make-up stations inside the restrooms where the likes of Naomie Harris, Renee Zellwegger and Florence Pugh received touch-ups throughout the evening. We admired Pixie Lott's outfit and she was lovely. She's been spending a lot of time in Hollywood recently - watch this space!

It was incredible to have an insight into what the BAFTAs are like from the other side and we're very envious of all the stars making the luxurious return journey by American Airlines to LA for The Oscars next weekend.

The countdown to the EE BAFTA awards has started and we’ve had a tantalising taster of what’s to come by attending the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star awards.

The glamorous event took place at The Standard Hotel, the new trendy boutique hotel in King's Cross. Greeted by a row of paparazzi outside, there was no doubt that this was the party of the night, if not week, in London.

Once inside, it was laid out beautifully. We were greeted with waiters with trays of chilled Champagne Taittinger - our favourite way to start the evening.

But of course, what we’re there for is celebrities and to see what they’re doing and what they’re wearing. Isn’t that the best thing about awards season - looking at the outfits? We don’t envy the celebs’ stylists - it’s a high pressured job.

As you can see, it was a star-studded eventof which the glamorous ladies were only part of. There were also this year's nominees and all the key people in the British film industry, but it was not at all snobby. Thanks to DJ sets by Arielle Free, DJ Henri and Yinka Bokinni, the atmosphere was party rather than poser-ish.

The Marylebone Village lights switch on gave us the chance to do all of the above plus support The Teenage Cancer Trust charity at the same time as Ricky Wilson turned on the lights at a special Christmas fundraiser.

We chatted about life when not on the road - he doesn't like going to gigs as he gets stage envy. And he revealed that he was a big monarchist and loved the Queen.

One of the recipients was actress Vicky Knight.

Vicky, who was left scarred from an arson attack as a child, was working as a healthcare assistant before being cast as Jade in Dirty God – but says she will never give up her day job.

‘This is incredible, crazy,’ she laughed to me over a glass of champagne. ‘I’m still a healthcare assistant, I was working yesterday. It’s a different life. That job is so different to acting, because there I make people smile. But with this job, I’m changing people’s lives with my story - I just want to show people that I’m more than just my scars.’

Vicky added, ‘I will never give up my job, I love it too much. I’ve done it for five and a half years now. Being an actress, I’ve realised that I’m lucky to have that job because I never know when I’m going to get my next role, so I’d be stupid to give it up.’

But it sounds like she won’t have much time to step foot on the ward. As well as working on a book about her life, Vicky also revealed, ‘I’m working on another film for next year, based on true events in my life – but it’s a secret!’

Congratulations to all the recipients – I can’t wait to see what they do next.

WHEN images of Prince Harry dancing at an open air nightclub and jumping into a pool fully clothed were beamed around the world, Hvar’s reputation as a party island appeared sealed.

But while the Croatian isle is still a favourite with the young and beautiful who want to let their hair down, it is now intent on attracting a slightly more discerning travellers.

A major part of this move away from its party island image is the opening last September of its first five-star hotel – the Palace Elisabeth.

Located in a prime spot in Hvar’s thriving harbour area, where mega yachts jostle for position with more diminutive vessels, the newly-renovated hotel is an impressive sight.

With the air of a grand Venetian residence, some of the whitewash stone exterior of the building dates back to the 13^th Century.

As one of the hotel’s first set of guests after its overhaul, I and my partner had the run of the freshly minted building - including the open air restaurant, spa and indoor pool.

We had arrived at the Palace Elisabeth after travelling just over an hour on a catamaran from the city of Split, on the mainland, to Hvar.

I’d like to pretend that I’m well-seasoned in staying in five star accommodation, but three or four star is usually as good as it gets for me.

As a result I spent my first hour at the hotel shamelessly luxuriating in the huge, pillowy bed, devouring the posh fruit bowl, guzzling an expensive-looking bottled water and marvelling at the stunning scene of the harbour from our window – all very Merchant and Ivory ‘Room with a View’.

Eventually we headed down to dinner where as well as being served a first class meal - as you might expect at a five star hotel - we got the chance to sample Croatian wine for the first time.

It turns out the Croatians are a wine-loving nation with hundreds of vineyards across the country.

The bottle we tried on this occasion was a red called Plavac Mali.

It certainly made walking around the sprawling piazza on the doorstep of our hotel more pleasurable.

On further exploration we noted there were still plenty of bars and beach clubs around for those who wanted to hit the island’s nightlife.

But we were equally struck by the Notting Hill-esque boutiques selling everything from handcrafted jewellery and bohemian fashions to quirky household décor for the more eclectic home.

Older holiday makers rubbed along with younger travellers through the winding streets of the bazaar-style shopping district.

Meanwhile, the many restaurants that line the narrow walkways appeared to have adopted the same boho-chic as the shops.

Fatty, whole legs of prosciutto ready to be carved and freshly caught fish displayed on ice for diners to peruse play testament to the foodie culture on the island.

Of course it is now a more sanitised place than during its heyday as a Venetian stronghold and target for pirates, but many of its historic buildings still stand making it is easy to envisage the harbour in those bygone times.

One structure which is now being proudly shown off as a symbol of Hvar’s cultural past is the recently restored 15^th Century theatre at its centre.

The stage and audience seating area are on the upper level of the two-storey building, with a cavernous shipyard on the ground floor – which is strangely fitting given the island’s maritime history.

It is said to be the oldest public theatre in Europe where fisherman once traded boxes of sardines in exchange for access to a private box from which to watch the performance.

The restoration took a lengthy 14 years, but the results are certainly worth it.

The now re-opened boxes are a cosy affair – clearly made for a theatre goers that were much slighter than those occupying them today - and dramatically decorated in red and gold wallpaper.

The ornately painted ceiling has been recreated with painstaking craftsmanship and is quite something to behold.

Most important of all, the actors are back on stage performing poetry and plays from when the theatre was a haven for Renaissance writers.

But not all our time in Croatia was spent as land lubbers.

But once our overloaded senses calmed down we were able to marvel at our surroundings and explore the villas dotted around the gardens for visitors to stay in, each individually decorated with original artworks.

And this heady mix of natural beauty and art has proven a hit it seems, with A-list holidaymakers - ranging from Beyonce to Queen Rania of Jordan - making a beeline for the Meneghello’s botanic paradise.

The excellent food is another pull for visitors, as we found out when were served up a hearty fish stew made on an open fire using local ingredients at the family’s on-site restaurant.

Rather than staying on, as tempting as that was, we headed back to Hvar later that afternoon.

But before our trip ended we made a feeble attempt to do a little island hopping by heading to the nearby isle of Brac for two nights.

Our room at the top of the hotel was basically apartment-sized, including a balcony overlooking the lush grounds, our own dining area and a mammouth bathroom complete with two wash basins.

And each evening we were invited to join the other guests along with the hotel’s convivial owner for pre-dinner drinks laid on in the garden.

Brac itself is not quite as well-developed or upmarket as Hvar, but it has its own charms.

Among the highlights are its beaches and we were not disappointed when we visited one of the most famous Zlatni Rat, also known as the Golden Horn owing to its distinctive pointed shape.

It is a pebble beach, which will not be to everyone’s liking, and can get crowded.

But there is no denying it is an idyllic spot surrounded by pristinely clean sparkling waters, with plenty of amenities on-hand should you fancy a bite to eat, a beer or a cheeky ice cream.

Our other less expected high point of the trip was a visit to the local olive oil museum with our guide Zoran.

We were literally walked through the history of olive oil making on the island by one of the museum’s knowledgeable staff members – including trying our hand at operating the traditional equipment.

However, best of all at the finish of the tour we were treated to a feast of the oils still produced at the museum’s olive press, along with local cheeses, a delicious fig jam and freshly baked bread.

So our week-long ‘babymoon’ was at an end and if nothing else I proved that as a pregnant over-40 there is much more to be enjoyed on Croatia’s islands than simply partying until dawn.

She’s been selling records and gigs for more than 50 years and Cher’s not slowing down now…even at the age of 73.

The Mail on Sunday diary had the privilege to witness her Here We Go Again farewell tour in the comfort of a box hosted by Champagne Lanson in a sold out O2 Arena. From here, we watched her captivate the entire audience by her singing, her age-defying moves and by her stories.

Talking about her age, she told the crowd who were hanging onto her entire word: "I don't like it at all. Everybody claps when I tell my age and I wonder if it's cos I'm still alive, or I can still get into my costume?"

And unlike other stars, who want to keep the secret of the success to themselves, Cher had a message of empowerment for everyone. She told younger women to ‘go for everything, never back down and always smile and say 'get the f*** out of my way.'

From her first moment on stage in an electric blue wig and a sequin toga, surrounded by gorgeous Gladiators, the show was packed with glamour, energy and positivity.

It's a well-judged showcase of her greatest hits, of which there have been many, with plenty of time in between for numerous costume changes, filled by chatty video montages of classic hits and moments from her life.

In the audience on Monday night when we attended, the stars of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK were quietly mesmerised – no doubt taking tips from the original music icon.

The previous night, acting legend Ian McKellan attend with pals, taking time before the show to visit the new Champagne Lanson lounge at the O2. He’s a man after our own hearts…

This lounge is open to the public before the show until the main act comes on stage and you can pre-book to reserve yourself a seat. You never know who you might bump into over a glass of Champagne and some delicious bite-sized food (including some addictively more-ish mini tacos) – we’ll certainly be back next time we visit the O2.

We also managed to pop up to the ICON shopping outlet before the gig started. It's just a short distance from the Champagne Lanson Lounge. With high end clothing shops like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Ted Baker to our favourite sports brands Asics and Adidas – all shops have up to 70% off regular retail prices. They’ll store your shopping for you during the gig and there’s free parking if you spend more than £35.

Where to get Champagne Lanson at the O2:

The Lanson Champagne Lounge opens in line with the concourse opening – usually 5.30pm and closes once the main act has started and guests have vacated.

The concourse-facing bar closes at the same time as all concourse bars, 30 minutes before the end of the show.
